Civil Rights Movement Research Paper - How to Write About the Current SituationSome of the biggest national issues today stem from the concerns of the civil rights movement. The theme for this group of people was that African Americans and other minorities should be treated fairly and should not be oppressed in any way.If you can dig into the history of this movement, you will find that many of the things that are happening today are not the result of the current situation. It is just that events have occurred at such a pace that a civil rights group cannot keep up with the times and is underrepresented in the mainstream.When the civil rights movement first started, there were not laws that were broken or committed against anyone. It was a time before the media was well known or anything that would give people ideas about how to treat others. A civil rights group like the NAACP was basically limited to what it was able to do in the community itself.Another thing was that since they w ere mostly made up of white people, there were no television shows about them or different types of movies that helped to educate people about their plight. For those who did not live in the South, they probably had no idea of what was going on in their communities.The major events that happen to the United States are an excellent example of this lack of awareness. The local school board in North Carolina used the old Jim Crow laws to be able to segregate black students in a special section for the white students.This was only done so that the white children could play their games at a separate place and not have to share with the black children who did not want to play there. All of this happened because no one bothered to really research the situation before saying something about it in the media.No one seems to be bothered to read major newspapers or watch the news to find out more about what is going on in our society today. Some people even believe that black lives don't matter at all, yet the number of police officers killed by black criminals has skyrocketed in recent years.The civil rights movement was meant to end discrimination, and nothing else. It is a sad state of affairs that a civil rights group is not educated enough to do that.
